'Tobin Yelland'

Marc Spiegler
Synopsis

In a medium built on narrative clarity, this New York skate photographer Tobin Yelland offered only fragments—busted teeth, scorched walls, bruised limbs—with no clues as to how they got that way. Like a Rorschach test lit by streetlamps, his images denied causality, withholding the before and after in favor of moments suspended in ambiguity. “Why demystify the myth,” he asked, “when it’s far more interesting to invent your own stories?” Article in German, translation at end of the PDF. Also, I used a pseudonym. Ask me not why... 🤷‍♂️
