Synopsis
Three years after launching, Art Basel Miami Beach was so successful that people wondered if it might displace Art Basel in Basel. “There’s a magic when the whole city seems to be living to the rhythm of a fair,” conceded Jennifer Flay, artistic director of FIAC Paris. “That groovy feeling has certainly had an impact in terms of other fairs, although it's hard to replicate in New York, London or Paris.” Epilogue: Art Basel in Basel remained the art-lover's fair, while Miami become the place where the creative class convened every summer - and by far the most important art fair in the world's most important art market.
