Fun piece re the persistent use of la graphologie (handwriting analysis) in the French hiring process, where it plays such an important role that job-seekers will sometimes have others write their cover letters. I'm guessing LinkedIn and job boards finally killed it, but at the time it was essential. If you've ever seen my handwriting, you'll understand that in France I would have probably become a maitre fromager, like my brother, rather than a writer or fair director.
